The Flexibility of CSS

Modifying files within a site that has hundreds maybe even thousands of pages can be an extreme headache. Building the site using CSS can lighten your days work dramatically. Using old coding styling such as <font></font> blows your code out of proportion, these older methods can and will most probably at some stage in the near future cause problems, as they will no longer be supported by the majority of user agents or standard browsers. Changing a site that uses these old methods can be a pain, but in the long run updating to use modern techniques such as XHTML & CSS must be a priority.

Samsung Galaxy S 4G gets carrier billing

In addition to accessing faster network speeds, T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S 4G will also get another kind of access.

Phone owners who purchase movies and TV episodes through Samsung's Media Hub will now be able to lump those fees in with their monthly phone bills.

Carrier billing is a convenience that ties phone-related expenditures to a service plan rather than to a separate credit card bill. As with renting movies from a cable TV provider in the home, costs can add up. Regardless, carrier billing is a provision many users have been wanting to gather more steam.

Is Frankie fit for the Big Apple

If you've been fascinated -- either in an intrigued way or a disgusted way -- by the Twins' willingness to entertain offers for pitcher Francisco Liriano ever since it became part of the landscape a couple of weeks ago, perhaps you should add this notion to the mix:

If the Twins are serious about listening to possible deals involving Francisco Liriano, the Yankees have the potential to be the best suitor. If the prospect of trading the Twins' best pitcher to New York is too much to stomach over an otherwise pleasant morning cup of coffee, we will understand. But know this:

The Yankees were banking hard on getting lefthander Cliff Lee in the offseason. That didn't happen. They surely had a hunch that Andy Pettitte might retire, but that's another at least middle-of-the-rotation lefthander the Yankees could have penciled into the rotation.

Instead, they have CC Sabathia clearly at the top. From there, the Yankees are hoping for a bounceback year from A.J. Burnett and wondering if Phil Hughes -- who was lit up by the Rangers in two ALCS starts last year -- is more of a No. 2 starter or a No. 4 starter. Beyond that, they're hoping Freddy Garcia, Bartolo Colon and/or Mark Prior can recapture some magic. In other words, they're potentially desperate for a top-flight lefthanded starter.

In addition, the Yankees have by many accounts a pretty strong minor league system right now. MLB Fanhouse recently rated it the No. 4 farm system in baseball for 2011 (the Twins were 10th, by the way). There are top prospects -- and potentially major league-ready players -- to be had in return.

Maybe this isn't the time to do it. Maybe you would never entertain the notion of trading Liriano ... or any valuable Twins player ... or a pair of socks ... or a breath of air ... to the Yankees.

Just consider it food for expanded thought if you can choke it down.

Hybrid design maintains most static content control

Hybrid design maintains most static content control, but is adapted to textual publishing, and for readers, to conventional (printed) display. Hybrid layouts are generally easy on the eye and are found on most sites that distribute traditional images and text to readers. For some sites, hybrid design makes an otherwise cold text column appear warm and balanced. A good example of hybrid layout is Wordpress, where liquid design is now optional, and movie and auditory media is stretching the envelope.

Fluid design is useful where content is delivered to an 'unknown device' population. Appropriate liquid code displays images, text and spaces proportional to display size. Someone with a handheld can see view and interact with the same content as someone using a large desktop monitor. However, scaling of content for a variety of devices has more recently evolved with modern web browsers, allowing users to see the same layout across all devices.
